The Euromoney / GlobalCapital Corporate Summit

On Thursday 29 September, Euromoney Conferences and GlobalCapital welcomed corporate issuers, investors and financiers in Paris for the second instalment of The Euromoney/GlobalCapital Corporate Summit.

The day began with a series of keynote addresses welcoming firstly Stuart Green, Chief UK Economist from Santander Global Corporate Banking. Discussing Brexit, Stuart provided a unique insight into the risk and opportunities Britain’s decision to leave the European Union has brought and will bring to the corporate financing market. Jeroen van den Broek, Managing Director and Head of Developed Market Research and Strategy at ING followed with an interesting and valuable presentation on the outlook for the corporate credit market. The final keynote address of the morning was delivered by Jacques Molgo, Group Financing and Treasury Director at Air Liquide, discussing acquisition refinancing in the capital markets and why Air Liquide, amongst all the rumours, chose not to issue a hybrid bond this year.

In a year of much market volatility, the opening macro panel discussion aimed to address the impact on treasury strategy. Welcoming BNP Paribas Asset Management, Banque de France, Uniper SE and Lagardère, panellists provided their views on topics including the future for Europe post referendum, the negative yield environment, causes and effects of central bank policy divergence and the impact of QE and the ECM’s corporate sector purchasing programme.

The day continued with panels discussing SRI, private debt, investment grade bonds and loans and how technology is changing the way corporate treasurers operate. Finally corporate bond investors from BlackRock, Amundi, Hermes Investment Management, ECM Asset Management and LNG Capital took to the stage to share their views on investing in corporate bonds in 2016.

Euromoney Conferences would like to thank all our sponsors, speakers and delegates, without whom the event would not be possible. We look forward to re-convening again next year and welcoming you all there.
