Marco Baldini is managing director and head of European bond syndicate, overseeing emerging market, frequent borrowers, corporate and FIG issuance at Barclays Investment Bank, London. Marco rejoined Barclays in late 2010 after spending three years at Merrill Lynch, where he ran both corporate and EM syndicate, and was promoted to managing director in 2009. He originally joined Barclays debt syndicate desk in 1996, specialising in the sterling market. During his career, Marco has had comprehensive deal experience in many syndicate product areas and markets, including rates/SSA, FIG, EM and HY. He has worked on some of the highest profile corporate senior deals in the past several years. These include Telefonica’s refinancing of O2, Autostrade and E.ON jumbo deals, Merck KgAA refinancing of Millipore Inc acquisition, as well as significant corporate hybrid transaction experience, most recently for American Movil, Bayer and VW. Marco has extensive experience of Middle Eastern/GCC transactions having working as a bookrunner on deals for Emirates Bank and ADCB. Marco also specialises in cross-border transactions, having worked on many international issuer transactions where debt distribution has been focused in the European region e.g Origin Energy of Australia, Hutchison Whampoa Hong Kong, Pemex of Mexico, AT&T of the USA. Marco holds a BSc degree in economics and accounting from the University of Bristol, England.
