Souraya Machnouk is a partner at Abou Jaoude & Associates Law Firm and lends her specialised knowledge and experience to several practice groups including corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, banking, capital markets, private equity and telecommunications. Souraya renders strategic advice to investors, major companies and banks on the raising of capital, collective investment schemes, and syndicated facilities. She also advises clients on complex local and cross-border transactions such as acquisitions and joint ventures. Her recent representative experience includes advising on: the largest-ever asset backed issuance in the Lebanese capital market through the securitisation of real estate receivables, the acquisition of a real estate company through the issuance of hybrid financial instruments; the acquisition of an operation of a global telecom group; a mezzanine facilities programme; and a multi-jurisdictional syndicated loan facility. Souraya holds a masters in French and Lebanese Law from the St. Joseph University, Beirut, with a double major in private and public law as well as an advanced graduate degree (DEA) in Banking and Financial Markets Law from the St. Joseph University in partnership with the University of Paris II-Assas in Paris. She also holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from George Washington University (joint programme with Georgetown University) in Washington, DC. Souraya is admitted to the Beirut Bar and is a member of the International Bar Association. She is fluent in Arabic, French and English. Souraya is recognised and a leading lawyer by prominent directories including Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.
