Mr Kyaw Hlaing is the president and research director of Myanmar Survey Research, a leading research company in Myanmar.  He is an expert in Myanmar business.  He has conducted over 500 research projects on various industries in Myanmar since 1995.  Many of his research are related to FDI, trade, and investment climate in Myanmar.  Invited by JETRO, he gave a seminar at the JETRO headquarters for Japanese companies in Tokyo in September 2012 on investment opportunities in infrastructure projects in Myanmar.  He was a speaker at the Asian Leadership Round Table of the Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong, 2013. In 2014, he participated as a discussant in the conference in Kunming on Southeast Asian Studies in Asia from multidisciplinary perspectives co-organised by the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, and Centre for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University. He has also participated as a speaker at a symposium in Xiamen, China, on Forging Community of Common Destiny between China and ASEAN Countries, Building a Maritime Silk Road of the 21st century. He attended as a discussant in a China-South Asia Think-Tank Forum in Kunming.  He is an adviser to Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone Management Committee and a member of bid evaluation and awarding committee (BEAC) of KyaukPhyu Special Economic Zone.  He is a co-founder of Myanmar Think Tank.  He was conferred the degree of master of arts in international relations from the International University of Japan.  He studied marketing at UCSD in the USA.
