Aung Myint graduated from the Mawlamyine University with a bachelor of science in botany in 1971, and a master of science in marine biology in 1975.  He is the founder of the local environmental non-governmental organisation ‘Renewable Energy Association Myanmar (REAM)’ which was established in 1995.  Aung Myint was also a teaching staff and research scholar at the departments of botany, marine biology and marine science from 1972 to 1989.  Aung Myint dedicates his time towards conducting public education and awareness promotion function on environmental and renewable energy resources.  He is also experienced in implementing projects to fulfill basic needs of the grassroots’ communities by networking with the government, international organisations and local organisations, for developing Myanmar villages, along with conservation and management of their surrounding natural resources.  Aung Myint also acts as a member for a variety of different committees, including the National Energy Management Committee of Myanmar, Village Electrification and Water Supply Committee, led by the Ministry of Livestock, Fishery and Rural Development, Renewable Energy Working Group, led by the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as the International Society of Mangrove Ecosystem, and Forest Resource Environment Development Association.
