2009 was another successful year for The Spanish Capital Markets Forum, the 3rd edition of this annual gathering of all those involved in Spain’s financial and business community.
Amidst wide-spread doom mongering about the health of the Spanish economy and those of many of its European counterparts, conference participants were aware of some hard times ahead. Change is in the air.
Great debate took place of how Spain’s financial and banking sectors are adjusting to the new landscape in global financial markets. Soledad Nuñes, Director General of Treasury and Financial Policy at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, opened the event, which coincided with budget day, with a very clear statement of the Government’s programme to support the financial system.
Panels of leading market participants and commentators subsequently debated in detail sectors of the economy including corporate finance, the future for the banking industry, and the outlook for the capital markets.
Euromoney would like to thank all the speakers and delegates who contributed towards making the event such a success this year. In particular, we would like to say a very special thanks to all our sponsors, without whom the event would not be possible.
