Philippines Investment Forum 2014

The 2014 Euromoney Philippines Investment Forum was held on 18 February at the Solaire Resort & Casino. It was the third year of this landmark investment forum in the Philippines.

Over 600 delegates attended this year’s forum, reflecting the continued optimism that international investors have for the Philippines despite US tapering concerns and volatility in global financial markets .

We were honoured to have the continued support of H.E. Benigno S. Aquino III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, who opened the forum, followed by the participation of the Hon. Cesar V. Purisima, Secretary of Finance, the Hon. Gregory L Domingo, Secretary of Trade and Industry and the Hon. Amando M. Tetangco Jr., Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

In 2013, the Philippines attained an investment grade credit rating while its economy grew by an impressive 7.2% despite the setback dealt by Typhoon Yolanda. FDI surged 33% to $3.1bn in the first nine months of 2013 and remittances were up a record 6.4% to $22.76bn for 2013.

Looking ahead, investors and business leaders will be keen to know if the nation can deepen its reforms and continue its impressive growth trajectory in the face of global economic uncertainty.

The Philippines Investment Forum will reconvene in 2015 to answer these questions and to reassess the Philippines economy.

Euromoney would like to especially thank the government for their support, our speakers for their views and our remarkable sponsors who made this event possible.
