Dr Gilmore founded in 1980 The GIC Group, an international agribusiness company with partner offices in Beijing, Sao Paulo and Bahia, Brazil, Quito, and Moscow. The company provides consulting, financial, carbon monetization, food security, and food safety services to global corporate and public institutional clients. In addition to his functions as president/CEO of GIC, Dr Gilmore is also the founder and chairman of the Global Food Safety Forum (GFSF: www.globalfoodsafetyforum.org ), a non-profit industry organization for educational food safety activities in Asia. He has developed new carbon financial instruments for agriculture, most notably the CPC (commodity plus carbon) futures contracts.  Dr Gilmore is a media and public commentator, adjunct professor, author of books and articles, and adviser to US federal and state institutions on agribusiness, food security, carbon, and biofuel issues. He serves as a board member and advisory council member for public and private sector institutions. He previously served as special external advisor to USAID for the Private Sector/ Global Food Security. Earlier, he served as chief economist, US Senate Foreign Relations Committee. During his academic career, he was a Fullbright Fellow and Rockefeller Fellow. Dr Gilmore has a MA in International and Development Economics from John Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Washington, DC, and a PhD in International Economics and Trade from Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva, Switzerland.
