Amine Awad started his banking career at BLOM Bank in 1982, following his role as the dean of the ‘University Institute of Technology - Business Administration at Saint Joseph University’ from 1979 to 1982. From 1985 to 1992 he served as senior manager of the International and Financial Institutions Department, as well as Private Banking Department at Banque Saradar. In 1993 he joined BLOM Bank (France) as general manager, until February 2000, when he was appointed by the Lebanese Government as executive board member of the Banking Control Commission and member of the Higher Banking Council at the Central Bank of Lebanon and representative of the Association of Banks in Lebanon. Among other tasks Dr Awad led the working group on ‘Basel Accord and International Accounting Standards implementation in the banking sector’; he remained in this position for three consecutive terms until March 2015. In June 2015 he joined BLOM Bank as adviser to the chairman and was appointed in 2017 as the Bank’s general manager. Dr Amine Awad holds a PhD in Economics from Saint-Joseph University and an Executive MBA from Manchester Business School.
