Hesham Gohar is head of investment banking at CI Capital. He is also a managing director and a member of the executive committee. He has 17 years of experience in investment banking and private equity across the MENA region, having worked in Dubai, Jeddah and Cairo. Since joining the firm in 2012, Hesham led the transformation of CI Capital’s investment banking franchise into the leading advisor in Egypt, gaining numerous accolades, including EMEA Finance’s ‘Best Investment Bank in Egypt’ award for four consecutive years (2013-16). During this period, he oversaw the completion of 28 investment banking advisory transactions valued at EGP 75bn. Hesham was previously with Beltone Financial, and before this, was head of principal investments at SHUAA Capital based in Dubai, where he managed the firm's USD 400mn proprietary investment portfolio. Earlier, he was director of principal investments at Dubai Group, the global investment arm of Dubai Holding, where he managed a multi-sector, multi-asset class portfolio across global emerging markets. Hesham also has experience as a banker at regional investment bank Swicorp, where he advised regional and international institutions and family offices on M&A, and debt and equity financings based in Cairo and later in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He previously served as a member of the investment committee of the Dubai Government's Education Endowment Fund, and also served on the boards of several companies across the region. Hesham holds a BA in economics from the American University in Cairo and completed executive education at Harvard Business School.
