Shelley Tom is a senior director, global term funding, treasury at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), located in Toronto, Canada. She plays a key role on CIBC’s global term funding team, with a focus on secured funding and all facets of development, structuring, and execution of the bank’s assets including covered bonds, RMBS, credit card ABS, CMBS, synthetic securitisation, and credit risk mitigation programs in the context of funding, liquidity, balance sheet and regulatory capital management.  She holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and is a CFA charterholder. Since its inaugural EUR deal in September 2008, CIBC has issued almost 30 benchmark covered bond transactions in five currencies, including landmark deals in 2010 that re-opened the USD and AUD covered bond markets post the financial crisis, as well as the first (issued in 2016) and so far only negative yield EUR trade not supported by ECB purchase programmes.
