Matthew Herbert joined the BBA in 2014 and leads the BBA’s digital and innovation programme focused on supporting the sustainable digital transformation of the industry. Convening senior banking industry experts and engaging closely with associated financial services firms, this role is responsible for the development and advocacy of industry policy, legislative, and regulatory reforms required in the UK, pan-EU, and globally, to enable digital innovation in banking and FinTech. Currently, some of the key areas of specific engagement include: blockchain/distributed ledger technology; cloud computing; and regulatory sandboxes. He graduated with degrees in law and business from Victoria University of Wellington, and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2009.
