Reem El Saady is currently a principle manager at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), heading the Advice for Small Business Programme of Egypt.  The programme supports small business with a special focus on women in business.  She has vast experience in SMEs development and the empowerment of women. She established during her previous work at the General Authority For Investment - as the adviser to   the chairman and the Minister of Investment - both the Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and SMEs Development, as well as the Bedaya Fund for SMEs Development, one of the first on-shore private equity funds dedicated for financing SMEs and innovative start-ups. Reem El Saady was the lead program coordinator of the Egyptian Swiss Development Fund from 1996 to 2009, a special fund dedicated to supporting the socio-economic development of underserved communities and the empowerment of women. She has a BA and MA in economics and is currently a PHD candidate at the faculty of economics and political science. She is writing her thesis on the impact of the business environment on SMEs in Egypt.
