Hanaa el Hilaly is the former acting managing director and director general of international cooperation and planning of the Social Fund for Development, Cabinet of Ministers - Egypt (for over 13 years), mandated as an autonomous organisation for job creation, poverty alleviation and economic and social development on all fronts, and is a counterpart with international donors for resource mobilisation to finance development. Before SFD, Ms El Hilaly enjoyed worked for over 25 years at international, regional and local banks in the areas of marketing, trade finance, wealth management, operations, internal control, human resources and corporate communications. Currently, Ms El Hilaly is a member of the high level independent team of advisers of the Sustainable Development Dialogue with the United Nations - Economic and Social Council (UN – ECOSOC). She is also managing director and board member of Amwal Financial Investments - Pioneers Holding Group, and a member of the board of trustees of: Tadamon Microfinance Foundation; Egyptian SMEs Association; Business Enterprise Support Tools (BEST) Foundation; and the Arab Foundation for Young Scientists. Ms El Hilaly is an advocate for SMEs development and women empowerment on all fronts, and is actively involved in the core groups of the women in business, international cooperation, entrepreneurship, and innovation committees of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt. She is a long standing active member of the American, Canadian and European Business Councils and Chambers of Commerce in Egypt. Ms El Hilaly was given an award in March 2016 by His Excellency the Canadian Ambassador to Egypt for her achievements in development partnering with the Canadian CIDA for 13 years to foster SMEs development, SMEs strategy, BDS for SMEs and entrepreneurship development. Ms El Hilaly won an international award for the Middle East from the International Arbitrators - Consultative Center for Arbitrators (CCA) jury and public votes in June 2016 for her achievements in development and humanitarian giving. Ms El Hilaly holds a bachelors degree in business administration from Cairo University and a masters degree in public administration from the American University in Cairo. She is a speaker at international and local forums and conferences on economic and social development.
