Hassan Hussein is a senior financial expert in starting up, turning around and managing financial institutions, in particular commercial, investment banking and mortgage finance in the Middle East, the Gulf, Egypt and Europe. Currently he is the chairman and managing director of Taamir Mortgage Finance Company, Aloula, which is the largest mortgage finance company in Egypt with a paid up capital of LE400m. He has totally restructured the company, solved its financial problems and achieved its highest net profit since inception. As a result of the successful turnaround Al Oula has started two new companies which are Al Oula Leasing Company and Al Oula Real Estate Investment Company. He has previously been the vice chairman of Egypt Arab Real Estate Bank where he has financed major real estate developments both on the corporate and retail levels. On the commercial banking side, he has worked as chairman, vice chairman, and chief executive officer of banks in Egypt (United Bank of Egypt, Egypt Arab Real Estate Bank), Qatar (Al Ahli Bank of Qatar) and Sudan (Egyptian Sudanese Bank). Hassan has also worked in senior level positions in major international commercial banks in Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Paris. On the investment banking side, Hassan has served as a chairman and managing director of TIIA Underwriting, mainly engaged in corporate finance advice, M&A and privatisation with the World Bank, USAID, EC, Canadian AID and major multinationals. He has been highly successful in creating and starting up investment banking boutiques (TIIA Underwriting Co and TIIA Company), and six years later subsequently sold both companies to the leading brokerage company in Egypt.  He has been elected twice to the board as the secretary general of the board of the Egyptian Capital Market Association, ECMA. He is a founding member of Egyptian Private Equity Association EPEA and chairman of its Real Estate Committee, chairman of the Banking and Stock Market Committee at the Egyptian Businessmen Association EBA, board member at the Canadian Egyptian Business Council CEBC and chairman of its Investment Committee. Previously he was chairman of the Banking, Finance and Insurance Committee at the American Chamber, AMCHAM, as well as chairman of the International Donors Committee. Hassan obtained his BA in business administration from Cairo University in 1973, completed the executive education in corporate finance programme in 1986 at Harvard University, USA and qualified by the London Stock Exchange UK in 1988.
