Heike Rust

Head of Group Finance

Axel Springer

Heike Rust, head of group finance at Axel Springer SE, Berlin, chairs the supervisory board of Axel Springer Norway AS and is a member of the supervisory board of Axel Springer International Ltd. Heike Rust is currently head of group finance, a position she has held since 2011. She initially began her career as a management consultant at A.T. Kearney GmbH, before moving on in 2001 to Knorr-Bremse AG, a privately held company in Munich. She first worked as the management assistant to the owner, president and chief executive officer. The issuance of a EUR-bond in 2002 exposed her to global financial markets and enabled her to gain experience in the sector. She continued her career within the treasury department of Knorr-Bremse AG. From 2006 to 2010, she set up and headed the treasury and risk department of Carl Zeiss Vision International GmbH, at that time a private equity and privately held company. In the financial year 2015, Axel Springer reported revenues of EUR 3,294.9 million. Currently 15,023 people work for the group. As a result of consistent internationalisation and digitisation, Axel Springer SE today is not only the market leader in German print business, but is also active in more than 40 countries through subsidiaries, joint ventures and licenses. Axel Springer SE’s aim is now to further develop digitisation even faster and more vigorously and to deliver informative and entertaining journalism as a viable online business model, along with marketing and classifieds, the other two business segments in which the company is traditionally strong.
