Gergely Tardos graduated from the University of Economic Sciences in Budapest in finance and economic policies. After university he started his career at the National Bank of Hungary in the economics department and later moved to the monetary policy department. At the National Bank his main tasks and responsibilities included: monitoring profitability and indebtedness of the corporate sector; external imbalances, indebtedness and FX reserve policy; and monitoring and forecasting budget balance and indebtedness. In 2004 he moved to the research center of OTP Bank as the deputy head of research. He is now the head of research and has been in this position since 2008. His team is responsible for industry research in Hungary and monitoring and forecasting macroeconomic and capital market processes and banking market sizes both in Hungary and in the other eight regional countries where OTP Bank has subsidiaries.
