Tobias Rasmussen

Resident Representative


Tobias Rasmussen is the IMF’s resident representative in Zambia, a position he has held since the start of 2013. With the IMF since 2001, he has worked on a wide range of countries on all continents. Before taking up his current assignment, he was senior economist and mission chief for Oman, and also part of the IMF’s Saudi Arabia team. He holds a PhD in economics from Aarhus University in Denmark and a master of international affairs from Columbia University, and he has been a visiting fellow at Harvard University. His research has focused on natural resource management and economic growth, and he has published in, among others, Review of Economic Dynamics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, and Journal of Environmental Economics and Management.
