Andrea Leadsom is the Conservative Member of Parliament for South Northamptonshire, elected in May 2010. Before becoming an MP, Andrea enjoyed a 25 year career in the banking and finance industry, most recently as head of corporate governance and senior investment officer for Invesco Perpetual, one of the UK's largest retail fund managers. Andrea was appointed to the government as Economic Secretary to the Treasury in April 2014. Her responsibilities include financial services policy and overall strategic relationship with the UK financial services sector. Before being appointed to the government as Economic Secretary to the Treasury in April 2014, Andrea was a member of the Treasury Select Committee, co-chairman of the APPG on European Reform, chairman of the APPG on Conception to Age Two and chairman of the APPG on Sure Start. She is a co-founder of the ‘Fresh Start Project’ which continues its detailed work into ways in which Britain can renegotiate its relationship with Europe. Alongside her business career, Andrea was trustee (and for 9 years chairman) of a children's charity, OXPIP (Oxford Parent Infant Project) which helps families that are struggling to bond with their new babies.
