Carlos Herrera is currently serving, on an interim basis, as treasury division chief in the finance department of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). He is responsible for the funding of the Bank’s balance sheet, day-to-day liquidity management, investing the Bank’s liquidity, as well as all associated Treasury operations. He joined the IADB in 1987 and has carried out various responsibilities in the finance department and treasury division. In 2010, he was appointed senior advisor to the vice president for finance and administration. His main responsibilities included providing strategic and operational advice on mobilising and managing the Bank's resources, and in the provision of support services. In this position, he expanded his experience in financial, risk, budget, IT issues, and in the different areas of the Bank’s corporate and operational work, its policies and procedures. Before 2010 he worked extensively in the promotion of IADB’s local currency lending in the LAC region. He graduated in 1987 with an MBA in finance from Louisiana State University, where he also received a BS in business administration.
