Esther Finnbogadóttir

Esther Finnbogadóttir is the head of funding and debt management at the Icelandic Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs. She holds an MBA degree from Reykjavik University and a cand. oecon degree from the University of Iceland. Before joining the Ministry in February 2013, Esther worked for the advisory company Analytica and its predecessor, the risk advisory division at Askar Capital, mainly in risk, debt and asset management advisory. Esther participated in the investigation and analysis of the processes that lead to the collapse of the financial system in Iceland while working for the Althingi‘s special investigation commission from 2009 until 2010. In the beginning of 2007 Esther joined Straumur investment bank, initially to build up an internal credit analysis function within the bank but later took over as the head of credit risk. After finishing her business degree in 1999, Esther started in the research department of Kaupthing, primarily as an equity analyst. Later she moved on to corporate banking where she worked as a senior business manager for Icelandic and international companies.
