Niek Nahuis is the head of the Dutch State Treasury Agency (DSTA), also known as agent. One of the main tasks of the DSTA is to prepare and define a funding policy and to represent the State in financial markets. Other tasks of the DSTA relate to the procurement of payment services for the central government and the provision of financing and deposit facilities for government institutions. The DSTA is an integral part of the Ministry of Finance. The agent is the eyes and ears of the Minister of Finance in the financial markets. The DSTA provides relevant information and analysis to the Minister. Before his position as agent, Niek held several other positions within the DSTA, ranging from head of the dealing room and acting head of settlement to head of risk management and acting agent. He started his career as researcher at MicroMacro Consultants, followed by a position as economist and researcher at the Dutch Central Bank. Before joining the Agency, he worked as a policy adviser at the general financial and economic politics division of the Ministry of Finance. He holds a masters degree in Economics from the University of Groningen.
