The GlobalCapital Sustainable & Responsible Capital Markets Forum

In line with our commitment to the SRI market, Euromoney will make a donation to a Vulnerable 20 project on behalf of the sponsors.

The project will be selected by voters in the poll.

Following the Euromoney/GlobalCapital Sustainable and Responsible Capital Markets Forum in September 2016, a donation of £20,000 has been made on behalf of our lead sponsors of the Forum - BNP Paribas, DZ BANK, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, ING, Rabobank and SEB. This was split equally between two Vulnerable 20 projects dealing with the effects of climate change. We would like to thank our sponsors for their generous support of this initiative.

The two projects, run by the respected UK NGO Oxfam, are:

  • Climate adaptation in Esperanza, Mindanao, the Philippines

The project is helping 42 farming communities adapt to the changing climate - which is causing more typhoons, a rise in temperatures and rainfall, and occasional droughts - by running farm schools to train people in how to grow more resilient crops. Three climate information centres will be built in the region to produce timely weather information and climate forecasts.

  • Providing clean water at malnutrition centres and villages in Niger

With the unfortunate accolade of being the least developed country in the world, climate change impacts are contributing to Niger’s serious malnutrition problem. Located in the rural Agadez region, this project addresses three of the UN Sustainable Development Goals: clean water and sanitation; good health and well-being; and climate action.
