Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Manager, Responsible for Credit and Green Bonds


Christopher Wigley joined Mirova’s fixed income team in 2014. The funds managed by Chris include the Mirova green bond global fund and the Mirova sustainable corporate bond fund. Before that, he spent eight years at Epworth Investment Management, as a senior fund manager specialising in ethical investment. There, Chris was in charge of all the fixed income portfolios including government bonds, inflation-linked securities, and corporate bonds. He was also for eight years the portfolio manager of the affirmative corporate bond fund for charities, which outperformed over one, three and five years. He contributed the chapter dedicated to the Green Investment Bank in The Green Book, edited by Duncan Brack, Paul Burall, Neil Stockley and Mike Tuffrey (Biteback, 2013), and was a consultant to the UNPRI on their 2013 report Corporate Bonds: Spotlight on ESG risks. Christopher began his career in 1987 with the Mitsui Bank in London, managing the bank’s investment portfolio primarily in US treasuries, US mortgage-backed securities, corporate bonds and high yield bonds, before joining Aioi Insurance Company of Europe in 1996, as the investment manager responsible for European government bonds, corporate bonds, and European branch investments. He is a graduate of the University of Essex in England, as well as a chartered wealth manager.
