The Euromoney Zimbabwe Investment Conference closed on 22nd March after two packed days of speeches, presentations and wide-ranging frank debate. Over 600 delegates attended. The line up of keynote speeches included Hon Gorden Moyo, Minister of State Enterprises and Parastatals; Hon Elton Mangoma, Minister of Power and Energy; Hon Tendai Biti, Minister of Finance; Hon Tapiwa Mashakada, Minister of Economic Planning and Investment Promotion, Hon Francis Nhema, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources; Hon Sithembiso Nyoni, Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperative Development; Hon Thokozani Khupe, Deputy Prime Minister; Hon Dr John L Nkomo, Vice President; Admassu Tadesse, Executive Vice Chairman, DBSA. The opening investors’ panel consisting of Jonathan Chenevix-Trench from African Century, Firdhose Coovadia from Essar Global, Richard Honey from Investec AM and Paul Maasdorp from Emerging Capital Partners, strongly supported the case and the opportunity for greater foreign investment in Zimbabwe.

The conference featured a wide variety of Zimbabwean and international panellists discussing financing Zimbabwe’s economy, SMEs, Banking and Capital Markets, Infrastructure, ICT, Agribusiness and Mining. The Hon Minister of Finance, Tendai Biti, announced the official launch of The Zimbabwe Accelerated Arrears Clearance, Debt and Development Strategy (ZAADDS) on 21st March 2012. We look forward to gather yet again next year to see the first achievements of this significant initiative for the country.
