On 30 November 2011 Munich became host to the Euromoney Corporate Financing Forum. After holding the forum in Paris for two years both Euromoney and our sponsors were keen to see how the event worked in a different city. It is clear that Munich was great choice. The forum united a fantastic mix of market participants, including issuers, investors and financial intermediaries from across Europe. The focus of this year’s event surrounded the current Euro crisis and how this is affecting corporate issuance.
Corporate issuers were keen to discuss the outcome of their recent deals and their predictions for the market in 2012. With the Euro Area gripped by crisis and government bond safe-havens perceived as a risk, investors discussed how, more than ever, corporate bonds are the attractive investment opportunity.
The conference opened with a lively panel discussing the current financing environment for corporates. This popular session, which included three leading corporates and two investment bankers, debated how the finance function has changed following the crisis. This frank and open debate was followed by a series of panels and workshop discussing issues from the strength of the high yield market to the shift towards hybrid instruments.
The popularity and success of this event continues to grow year on year, proving not only that the market remains strong but is continuing to grow and develop despite the crisis. We hope you will be able to join us at the end of 2012 to discuss the new developments in this exciting market.
