On 3 March 2011 a group of Europe’s leading bank issuers, investors and financial intermediaries met in Frankfurt for the second edition of Euromoney’s Bank Finance conference. Following the success of the inaugural event in 2010, this unique conference united market players to discuss the most pressing issues affecting the bank finance market.
The conference attracted a variety of bank issuers who discussed how their funding needs are changing and the importance of keeping ahead of new regulation in this rapidly developing market. Investors also offered their experience of the market and how their appetite for bank securities has evolved.
The day began with two keynote addresses from Francesco Papadia on the ECB Liquidity Bridge and Stephane Deo on the credit cycle. This was followed by a series of lively panels covering a range of topics including: banks, politics and money; bank capital; bank funding; and investor appetite for bank securities. Another keynote address by Yves Mersch, Governor of the Banque Centrale du Luxembourg offered a great insight into the current inflation environment.
Once again this conference provided a unique platform for analysis and debate at just the right time of year.
