The 4th Annual Euromoney Thailand Investment Forum, held on July 6-7 in Bangkok, once again proved to be the country’s single most important capital markets and foreign investment conference.
Taking place just two months after the country endured the worse political violence in its modern history, the two-day-long conference nonetheless attracted 1000 participants including key government officials, foreign investors, multinational executives, Thai business leaders, leading academics and members of the international and local media. In total, delegates from 20 different countries around the globe registered to attend the forum.
Conference attendees heard detailed analysis from some of the most important and influential figures in the country, including:
• Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva
• Finance Minister Korn Chatikavani
• President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand Charamporn Jotikasthira
• Bank of Thailand Governor Tarisa Watanagase
• Minister of Energy Wannarat Charnnukun
• American Ambassador to Thailand Eric G John
Discussions at the forum ranged across a variety of crucial topics as participants debated the changing investment climate in Thailand and sought to answer the question on everyone’s mind: What can Thailand do to reach its full potential amidst years of political instability, a wavering global demand for goods, and an expanded regional marketplace that still seems up for grabs?
The 4th Annual Euromoney Thailand Investment Forum was made possible thanks to lead sponsorship from the top three banks in the country: Bangkok Bank, Kasikornbank and Siam Commercial Bank. Their commitment to the conference, as well as their sustained confidence in the investment outlook of Thailand, helped make this important event possible.
