We thank the senior cabinet members of the government of Egypt for joining us again at this year's Euromoney Conference. We also thank the more than 1200 delegates who were there over the two days and the nearly 400 members of the international and local media.

Our decision to expand and extend the panel discussions this year - gave more time for insight and analysis - and audience participation. It's something which we will be repeating.

The mood of the conference was reasonably optimistic - but with some concern over the effect the elections will have on investor's appetite for Egypt. All the speakers agreed that Egypt is standing at a crossroads - it can go the way of Brazil or Turkey (which is what we hope) or it can stay still. In today's world - that is going backwards.

What we know and perhaps all we know - is that the next twelve months will be crucial to Egypt, its people and those who invest there. There is need and demand for change - but how, when and how fast that change will come remain to be seen.

Rather than us telling you how great it was, here is what some of our participants said:

“An excellent conference...”
Guy Harington, Head of Sovereign Relationships, Citi

“The Euromoney Egypt 2010 Conference successfully assembled the movers and shakers of Egypt’s political and financial establishment all under one roof—something only the President has managed to do thus far!”
Tamer Nassar, Regional Vice President, Energy Allied International

"This conference, for good reason, is known as the conference of the year in Egypt. Euromoney does a great job at it."
Florence Eid, Chief Executive Officer, Arabia Monitor and Member of the Board of Directors, Arab Banking Corporation International Bank

“I was truly impressed by the excellent organization of the event. Apart from the very useful information and feedback received from the speakers and during the Q&A sessions, the networking was extremely valuable as many of the key players were in attendance either as speakers or delegates.”
Khaled El Shalakany, Senior and Managing Partner, Shalakany Law

“The event was very impressive with all those high caliber panelists and participants. I really congratulate you for the achievement. I know how difficult it is to gather and interest all these people and you made it.”
Lahcen Achy, Senior Economist, Carnegie Middle East Center

"I was much honored to speak and participate in 2010 conference in Egypt. Not only I was given the chance to share my thoughts on SME development, I also had a unique opportunity to listen to a group of experts and politicians and meet decision makers and create lots of synergy. Two thumbs up for the great work done."
Khaled Al-Gazawi, Chief Executive Officer, Agha Khan Agency for Microfinance
