Euromoney’s annual flagship meeting for Central and Eastern Europe was held this year in Vienna, as it has been for the last 15 years. Attracting enormous numbers of delegates from both inside and outside the region. The Central and Eastern European Forum took place against the background of continuing uncertainty about the effects of the global economic and financial crisis. The speakers evaluated and debated the future of the region and its countries with much vigour, and covered a large variety of topics.
There were three opening ministers and governors panels spread over the day and a half. The audience saw a dynamic combination of government ministers and central bank governors, a new format for the Euromoney Conference and one which certainly paid off. The second morning of the conference was opened by a keynote address from Grigoriy Aleksandrovich Marchenko, Governor, National Bank of Kazakhstan. All sessions throughout the day and a half were well attended and varied from country specific themes such as Turkey and Russia, to macroeconomic viewpoints and commentaries. There were interactive panel discussions, sponsor led workshops, and intimate roundtables providing delegates with the opportunity to discuss questions directly with key policymakers. Between the sessions on stage, delegates took advantage of the networking opportunities and held meetings throughout the event with a view to generating new business and contacts for 2011.
