On December 8 in Paris a large group of treasurers and finance directors from Europe’s leading companies met with investors and intermediaries in Euromoney’s inaugural Corporate Financing Forum. The conference’s purpose was to help companies navigate the new financing and risk management environment thrown up by the banking crisis and its aftermath.
Treasurers and finance officials explained that the strength of the corporate bond market had largely provided them with excellent opportunities to finance their activities – replacing vanished bank balance sheet requirements in many cases. Some speakers cautioned that 2010 could prove more challenging.
The day kicked off with a lively debate on the shifting relationships between companies and their banks. The subsequent panels covered a range of topics including the finance function, risk management for corporates, refining the corporate balance sheet, corporate liquidity, with the final panel focusing on the corporate bond market.
With a mix of expert insight from the panellists and pertinent questions from the audience, the forum provided a detailed analysis into the availability of funding for companies and the trends anticipated for the future.
Euromoney would like to thank all the speakers and delegates who contributed to making the first ever Corporate Financing Forum such a huge success. We would also like to say a special thanks to all our sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible.
