The Global Borrowers & Investors Forum 2014

“It is an honour to deliver the opening address at the Global Borrowers and Investors Forum. This conference leads the conversation on key trends in global financial markets. The people in this room play a key role in shaping the global economy.”
Hon. Joe Oliver, Minister of Finance, Canada

The Euromoney Global Borrowers & Investors Forum 2014 once again attracted the who’s who of debt capital markets. Around 1,000 delegates, including the biggest borrowers and investors in the world, gathered under one roof in London to hear the latest on what’s shaping the markets. There was a real buzz at this year’s event, and more investors in attendance than ever before as for the first time the Forum incorporated Euromoney’s Bond Investors Congress, the biggest gathering of bond buyers in Europe.

The Forum opened on Tuesday morning with Hon. Joe Oliver, the recently appointed Minister of Finance of Canada, who spoke eloquently about Canada’s economy and his global outlook for the year ahead. The Minister was followed by an outstanding opening panel analysing the very latest twists and turns in fixed income markets and global central bank policy changes. Other agenda highlights included an insightful interview with Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive EMEA of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, on the trends he predicts will shape investment in international bond markets in the coming year. In the afternoon, we welcomed Nigel Farage MEP, leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party, in a live one-to-one interview with Euromoney Institutional Investor chairman Richard Ensor, which certainly got our attendees debating.
