The Central and Eastern European Forum was held on 15-16 January 2013 at the Hilton Vienna. It was one of the busiest years yet with over 1000 delegates attending from both inside and outside the region to network, meet new contacts, and catch up with old friends. This well established annual gathering really has become the must have date for your diary, and the best way to start the new year.

The delegates heard opening keynote speeches from Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), H.E. Valdis Dombrovskis, Prime Minister, Government of Latvia, and Ewald Nowotny, Governor, Oesterreichische Nationalbank. There were also four discussion panels populated by government ministers, central bank governors and experts whose views on the future of the region set the scene perfectly for the rest of the days’ events.

The remainder of the ten editorially driven panels covered a variety of topics ranging from ‘Managing Public Finances’ to ‘Investment Opportunities in Emerging Europe’. In addition to these sessions the conference offered sponsored workshops, and country focussed roundtables which gave detailed accounts of the key opportunities and challenges faced by particular countries in the region such as Hungary, Poland and Ukraine. The frank and open discussions that took place during all sessions were refreshing and certainly captured the attention of the audience. It was an incredibly full, busy and interesting event this year which signalled an increasingly positive outlook for the region going forward.

This could not have been the case without the support of the conference sponsors. We would like to thank them:
