The Asia Forex Forum
Tue 21 Feb 2012 - Pan Pacific
The 4th annual Euromoney Asia Forex Forum brought together 530 forex professionals from across Asia. Leading investors, corporates, central bankers, economists and service providers came together at the Pan Pacific, Singapore, for a day of stimulating debates and discussions on the latest developments in the foreign exchange markets.
With elections looming in the US, France and Germany, and a change of leadership in China scheduled for the end of this year, our opening panel addressed the impact this will have on the foreign exchange markets and how they see politics in such a political year affecting an already vulnerable global economic recovery. The panels that followed addressed the internationalisation of the RMB, investment opportunities in regional currencies and the outlook for Asian economies in 2012, as well as a panel focusing on the Eurozone crisis and its impact upon Asia. Our panel Hedging, Havens, Return of Capital, focused on how to most effectively hedge fx risk in such volatile markets whilst the towards the end of the day focus moved to how to effectively generate alpha and profit from market volatility in 2012.
