George Passaris is the head of the securitisation division of the European Investment Fund (EIF). His team is responsible for the planning, execution and development of EIF’s own credit risk enhancement transactions in support of the financing of SMEs throughout all EU Member States. He has been a financial market professional for 25 years, working in multiple asset classes such as fixed income, structured credit, as well as interest rate and currency derivatives. Before his role with the EIF, he was a consultant with BlackRock’s financial market advisory group on projects involving diagnostic assessments of loan portfolios for a number of banks in Ireland and in Greece. In the past, he was a managing director for the European alternatives product management group with Prudential Financial. In addition, George has also held positions in London as a senior banker in structuring and securitisation, debt capital markets and derivatives with Bear Stearns, ABN AMRO Bank and Bank of America. George holds an MBA from Manchester Business School and a BA in economics from the Economic University of Athens.
